Welcome Alla Voytsikhovska

Alla at UO Knight Library

ELAW Fellow Alla Voytsikhovska has arrived from Lviv, Ukraine, where she works with our partner organization Environment People Law.

Communities in Ukraine are calling on Alla, a chemist, to learn best practices for handling medical waste, pesticides, and other hazardous materials.

Alla will work one-on-one with ELAW staff attorneys and scientists, tour our sanitary landfill, recycling operations, water treatment plant, and other waste management operations.  She will also continue her research on protecting eastern Ukraine from environmental hazards tied to the military conflict.  Many thanks to the Trust for Mutual Understanding for making Alla’s ELAW Fellowship possible.

Yesterday was Alla’s first day of classes at the University of Oregon’s American English Institute (AEI).  Alla is an AEI Director’s Distinction Scholar in the Intensive English Program.

The AEI has awarded 55 ELAW Fellows from 26 countries scholarships for the Intensive English Program.  Thank you AEI!

If you live in the Eugene area and are interested in helping Alla tour Eugene, the Coast, the Cascades etc., please contact Jackie Chimelewski, ELAW Community Outreach Coordinator.

Thank you for your interest!
