Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999  Sec. 16. (Requirement for approval of activities with a significant impact on a declared Ramsar wetland (1) A person must not take an action that; (a)  has or will have a significant impact on the ecological character of a declared Ramsar wetland or  (b)  is likely to have a significant impact on the ecological character of a declared Ramsar wetland).

Queensland Fisheries Act 1994 Sec. 123. (Protection of marine plants A person must not unlawfully—(a)remove, destroy or damage a marine plant; or(b)cause a marine plant to be removed, destroyed ordamaged.Maximum penalty—3000 penalty units.Example of removing a marine plant—removing seagrass from a beach or foreshore Example of destroying a marine plant—burning salt couch Example of damaging a marine plant—pruning or trimming mangroves).

Fisheries Management Act 1994   Division 4 (Protection of mangroves and certain other marine vegetation)  Sec. 204 A (Marine vegetation protected from any harvesting or other harm, (2)  A person must not harm any such protected marine vegetation in a protected area. Maximum penalty—In the case of a corporation, 2,000 penalty units or, in any other case, 1,000 penalty units.) 204 B (Marine vegetation protected from any commercial harvesting, (2)  A person must not gather or collect for commercial purposes any such protected marine vegetation in a protected area. Maximum penalty—In the case of a corporation, 2,000 penalty units or, in any other case, 1,000 penalty units.). 204 (2) (Provisions to protect marine vegetation, (1)  This section applies to any marine vegetation declared by the regulations to be protected from commercial harvesting. (2)  A person must not gather or collect for commercial purposes any such protected marine vegetation in a protected area. Maximum penalty—In the case of a corporation, 2,000 penalty units or, in any other case, 1,000 penalty units.). Sec. 205  (Marine vegetation—regulation of harm (1)  This section applies to (a)  mangroves, (2) A person must not harm any such marine vegetation in a protected area, except under the authority of a permit issued by the Minister under this Part. Maximum penalty—In the case of a corporation, 2,000 penalty units or, in any other case, 1,000 penalty units.)
