From the abstract:
This guide was prepared for ‘Legal tools for citizen empowerment’, a
programme steered by the International Institute for Environment and
Development (IIED). It explores foreign investment in the natural
resource sector in lower- and middle-income countries, and discusses
options to structure investment contracts in ways that maximize the
contribution of investments to sustainable development. This guide,
based in part on training sessions carried out in Ghana and Central
Asia, can be used as a background document for training sessions
involving government officials, parliamentarians and civil society, as
well as for those geared towards businesses interested in contributing
to sustainable development.
