ELAW at Hazel Wolf Film Festival, May 3

At this year’s Hazel Wolf Film Festival, Diana McCaulay, film producer and CEO of the Jamaica Environment Trust, joins ELAW Executive Director Bern Johnson for a panel discussion: "Protecting Jamaica Through Law and Film." Clips of “Cockpit Country: Voices From Jamaica’s Heart” and “Jamaica For Sale” will be shown.

The Jamaica Environment Trust (JET) is working with filmmakers, ELAW, and communities to protect Jamaica from high-rise, Cancun-style development. Jamaica’s coastlines are under assault and a mining company wants to destroy a unique forest to mine bauxite. JET is using the courts and the media to challenge short-sighted development and educate Jamaicans about what’s at stake.
