    Thuli Makama wins Goldman Prize!
    Fantastic news!! ELAW partner Thuli Brilliance Makama from Swaziland won a Goldman Prize today -- the world's most prestigious environmental award! Her courageous work is being celebrated today in San Francisco, along with five other winners from around the world.

    This week we warmly welcome our latest ELAW Fellow, Jean André Victor from Haiti. He is an environmental attorney, an agronomist, and a law professor and he will be with us for three months, studying English, working on a new book, and collaborating with ELAW staff.

    Agnes Gajdics has arrived from Hungary! She is our new ELAW Fellow and will spend the next nine weeks learning English and collaborating with ELAW staff to protect communities in Hungary from polluting coal mines, hazardous waste, and other environmental abuses.

    ELAW Associate Director Lori Maddox just returned from a week with the Mesoamerican Legal Strategy Group in Belize. They worked in Dangriga, Hopkins, Punta Gorda, Conejo, Belmopan, San Ignacio, and South Water Caye. Their focus was responding to the impacts of climate change.
